Panasonic Makes 300 Million TVs

by TVB Staff | October 9, 2008
The Japanese press is reporting that Panasonic has turned out its 300 millionth television set, a total that took it 56 years to reach. Jiji Press reported that the Osaka, Japan electronics giant was the first TV maker in the known universe to reach the milestone.

Panasonic TVs were originally manufactured under the National brand before the Panasonic moniker was adopted in 1961 for TVs exported to the United States. National continued to be used in Japan up until 1988.

A company official said that it expected to reach the 400 million mark within just a few years.
