TV Blamed for Gymnast’s Spill

by TVB Staff | Aug. 15, 2008
An official for the U.S. women’s gymnastics team blamed TV for Alicia Sacramone’s teetering fall from the balance beam this week. Martha Karolyi said repeated television delays broke the gymnast’s concentration. A single two-minute delay was confirmed, but Sacramone herself did not lay blame on the TV coverage, but rather took responsibility for her fall as well as her team’s failure to secure the gold medal.

“No one else made mistakes,” she told NBC’s Andrea Joyce, who was roundly criticized across blogs for what many considered a harsh interview. “So it’s kind of my fault.”
